Sunnycrest Park Trail Master Plan – Syracuse, New York

The Central New York Community Foundation has awarded the Sunnycrest Park Association a grant  for the development of a master plan for the northern trails area of Sunnycrest Park in the Eastwood Neighborhood of Syracuse, NY. The master plan will focus on the restoration of native plant communities, the development of interpretive signage for environmental education, the restoration of the historic brick walkways and stone walls as well as improvement of the existing trail system, the restoration of the original historic drainage systems and improvements to drainage, and will explore other ideas and alternatives with the broader community. The plan will also highlight the existing wetland area by theClubhouse as an important trailhead for the Park.

Three community meetings will be held to: brainstorm overall visions for the park, present preliminary proposals for the park, and to present the final plan.

The master plan will consist of a series of maps, diagrams, photographs, and sketches depicting the existing conditions as well as proposed conditions for the trail system; as well as a preliminary cost estimate and potential phasing for the implementation of the plan. The project is anticipated to require 12 months to complete.
